LO3 - Final unedited photos

The photos for the 'chav' were either taken in the Winter gardens or by the ride 'The Sizzler'. The foremost images show a contrast between how society views Chav's (they wouldn't be expected to go into facilities that are supposed to be both educational and visually stunning) and how they can break away from this stereotype. I could give the pictures ironic things such as 'a chav in their natural habitat' or something calmer such as 'a moment on the bench'. The pictures in front of the Sizzler show a similar contrast between all the colours and the stereotypically dull, run down clothing of a 'chav'- I could call any used from that location 'fun at the fair' or simply 'Sizzler'.

The images of Kayla taken in front of the peace gardens don't have any particularly stereotypical connotations but the way she is smiling shows a different take on 'Hipsters' being distant instead of bright and full of smiles. I could name any of these photos things such as 'bright even in the rain' or 'A rainy afternoon'. The pictures of her in front of the John Lewis walls are more stereotypically hipster so these could have social media related titles such as 'Instaworthy' or 'hashtagtown'.

'Goth' pictures were foremost taken by the graveyard which is a very stereotypical place for a goth to be hanging around, as well as the pictures taken in front of the writing saying 'The damned'. The overall dreary weather creates a gothic atmosphere, I could name these photos anything from 'A walk in the rain' to 'testing out the stereotype' to show the images are ironic.

LO2 - UTC photoshoot

This photo was taken using the camera's flash on portrait mode, which gave incredible facial detail on Matt as my subject- creating quite a nice picture purely based off Matt's expression. This embodied the sort of images I wanted to take in my final shoot; pictures that not only focused on the face of the subject but also made good use of the space behind him. The fact that Matt is very central in the picture creates a nice composition.

I like this picture purely for the fact that it manages to be both natural and artificial simultaneously, as the light is in shot it is almost like showing a behind the scenes of a photo shoot. In my final shoot I will be using natural lighting so the outcome will not be similar to this in style but this is the sort of natural pose I would like to catch my models within. The block colours in the background serve only to highlight the subject which has an aesthetically pleasing effect.

This was my first try of taking landscape pictures and because of the foggy weather it came out quite well, not that I will be photographing in this style but it was still interesting to try out. Overall there was a very naturally moody effect and an interesting contrast between the blankness of the sky and detail of the town, which made the image very appealing.

This is my favourite picture as there are so many different layers in it as the viewer watches the city gradually retreat into the fog. The composition is appealing as it seems to be almost symmetrical in some aspects, and it is easy to see the detail of the different textures on the rooftops and buildings. The lighting is too dark for anything to be made out well which is one of the image's downfalls, but this also creates an intentionally moody effect.

This is quite a stereotypical guitar shot but I liked how it turned out, the focus creates a great sense of distance in the image. I will focus more on people than their props in my final images but it was helpful to attempt something like this as the guitar can be related to particular sub-cultures so related to my final theme.

In this picture the contrasting colours create a very nice effect, but it is slightly out of focus which makes the appear as though there's a light smog over it- detracting from the sharp colours. I tried to follow the rule of thirds here which had varying degrees of success, but the space in the centre of the picture draws the viewers' eyes towards the edges where more appears to be happening.
